Terceiro Projeto – Ajuda Animal
Nosso terceiro projeto foi nos arredores de Cape Town (África do Sul), localidade de Kraaifontein. Fomos voluntários em um centro de equitação, onde os 6 Pôneis e os 2 cavalos que lá se encontravam, foram resgatados das ruas ou de algum outro lugar onde sofriam maus tratos.
Alguns dos problemas que eles apresentavam era medo de pessoas altas, pois haviam sofrido nas mãos de adultos, a grande maioria tem problemas na coluna, além de baixa sensibilidade na boca, pernas dianteiras fortes e traseiras deficientes e atrofiadas, pois puxavam carroças de forma inadequada e continuamente. Graças a esse centro de equitação encontraram um lar que possibilitou a quase total reabilitação. Lá eles recebiam alimentação correta e balanceada, visita médica e odontológica regularmente além de carinho e atenção das crianças que visitam e fazem aulas no local.
Nossa ajuda iniciava cedo, as 7:30h regularmente dávamos o café da manhã, aos animais; realizavamos a limpeza e manutenção do estábulo; em seguida se não houvesse aulas era necessário efetuar a higiene dos cascos, pelos, rabo e crina. Todos os pôneis e cavalos necessitam serem montados todos os dias. Ao meio dia colocávamos o almoço nas áreas externas, e em seguida preparávamos o jantar e o café da manhã do dia seguinte.
Foi uma experiência muito diferente pois nunca tínhamos lidado com cavalos, especialmente cavalos e pôneis resgatados e tão ariscos. Acabamos encontrando pessoas incríveis e com uma paixão enorme por cavalos, pôneis e qualquer outro animal que necessitasse de ajuda. Acreditamos que esta experiência foi muito produtiva afinal, acabamos adquirindo novas habilidades e nos emocionando com esses animais surpreendentes.
Third Project – Animal Aid
Our third project was arround Cape Town (South Africa), locality of Kraaifontein. We were volunteers in a riding center, where the 6 Ponies and the 2 horses that were there, were rescued from the streets or from some other place where they were badly treated. Some of the problems they presented were the fear of tall people, as they had suffered in the hands of adults, the majority have problems in the spine, in addition to low sensitivity in the mouth, strong front legs and deficient and atrophied backs, as they pulled carts inappropriately and continuously. Thanks to this riding center they found a home that enabled almost total rehabilitation. Now they receive correct and balanced nutrition, regular medical and dental visits and the care and attention of the children who visit and take classes on the spot. Our help started early, at 7:30 a.m. we would regularly give breakfast to the animals; cleaning and maintenance of the stable; then if there were no classes it was necessary to make the hygiene of the hoofs, hairs, and mane. All ponies and horses need to be ridden every day. At noon we would put lunch in the outdoor areas, and then we would prepare dinner and breakfast the next day. It was a very different experience as we had never dealt with horses, especially horses and ponies rescued and so rude. We ended up finding amazing people with a huge passion for horses, ponies and any other animal that needed help. We believe that this experience was most striking for us, after all we ended up acquiring new skills and moving with these amazing animals.
